Ensuring that progress and the working drive never die out. Perhaps none are as aware of the memories at GSIS as those who have attended Publications class. The students in the class, however, have found a sense of purpose in more than just creating the yearbook. During the ten years of memories at the school, students have grown as individuals and cemented a legacy in the heart of the yearbook production. For both current and past students in Publications, the yearbook takes on a special meaning of progress. “As I flip through the pages of each yearbook, being able to see the progress of Publications and its company from both an artistic and journalistic standpoint provides me with a rather unusual yet undeniably satisfying feeling of accomplishment and of self-worth,” commented former Editor-In-Chief Eric Han. Thus more than just the recollection of what made the school year unique, memories of publications have created a sense of accomplishment. “To me, the yearbook represents all the hard work that we put into for something that we’re making for a community, not a grade,” revealed current Editor-In-Chief Victor Jeong. In addition, the yearbook production served as an opportunity for personal development and skill building. Providing a unique workload and a self-managed assignment schedule, Sally Kim takes photos of Lucas Lee and Jean Yi for her photo summative. Lucas was commenting on Jean’s photo selection for the Elementary SEW page. This was Jean’s first page for the yearbook and so he took extra care and concern when selecting and editing photos. Publications also has managed to serve as a catalyst for social growth. Interacting with others, meeting with new people and making memories eternal comprise a large part of the class and leave a lasting impression. “Having to interview people incentivized me to talk to people I usually wouldn’t talk to. So it’s made me grow socially,” commented former editor Angela Park. The greatest influence of Publications, however, is the experience that it has ingrained into the Aidan hearts of its working force. “Every night the Schneider editors stayed up working on the yearbook writes rap lyrics on the topic of not together, every time our class celebrated getting a seven for barely making a due date: it’s all stayed with me,” rea grade.
