Anna Nguyen happily scribbles down a translation of the story she read. Students were told to write in a ring of flashcards a summary of each page of the story they read. 2. While handling her iPad, Yuliia Korkishko sits comfortably on the sofa of Mrs. Hughes’ classroom. Many students in the Elementary and the Upper Secondary appreciated having the option to sit on the couches in the classroom. 3. Taniya Christopher and Adrian Lee read silently in their assigned seats. Students chose books from their reading levels for reading or free time. 4. Asmi Jain solves and writes answers on her “Rounding and Compensating Addition” worksheet to review the newfound knowledge that they were taught in class. The students were given worksheets to ensure that they had understood the lesson that day. 5. Yamato Kitabayashi balance his paper worksheet on his head. He shows off his trick to his friend nearby while waiting in the line to get his work checked by Mrs. Howell. 6. Anwesha Bhakta asks substitute teacher Ms. Lee a question that she has for her “Rounding and Compesnating Addition” worksheet. It can be exciting for substitute and guest teachers to visit the classrooms, as students get to know more of the GSIS family. 4 5 6 21 _GSIS Yearbook-ES_Part 1.indd 21 4/16/16 10:31 PM
