I loved going to practice after school . Most of the time it was my favorite part of the day . Even if the practice went horrible , I had something I cared about deeply and that ’ s the type of thing that shapes a person in High School . Being surrounded by girls who shared that same passion and understood how I felt when I smiled , teared up , or got upset made us a team ; it ’ s an intimate experience to know exactly what the person next to you is thinking and feeling without having to say anything . Playing soccer makes me as happy as it did when I was in High School , but the girls I played with made GSIS Varsity a memory irreplaceable , unforgettable .
What I liked about being a part of the girls soccer team was that I had a wonderful team . Even though we had tough practices and my body was sore all the time , it still made me to feel excited about going to practice and a game . Our team members each cared for one another and helped each person on the team to push each other to the limit . I learned a strong mentality from our team members .

Soccer was definitely tough , but it was a such an honor to be part of the team because the strong mentality that the ladies had , allowed me to push harder and become a stronger person .
I was on the team for three years since sophomore year , and I had never regretted being a part of it . Our team was like a family , and no matter who came in the team as a newbie , we made them feel comfortable . Our school vibe is known for good bonding and caring each other like a family . This vibe also existed in our team which made us stronger in teamwork than other teams . Soccer as a sport teaches one in many ways . I had a girl who I disliked , but we got to get along well while playing soccer . The most memorable time during the whole three seasons was during my sophomore year when Gregory Walasek was our coach . It was when we played our championship game at SIS . Our coach Walasek had rough edges only during games . It was the first time a coach was being kicked out of the field . During our championship game , the referee gave him a red card for shouting too much at our opposing team , and made him leave the area . For the rest of the game , our assistant coach Harding had to lead our team . It was a disaster . There were girls crying , and we were all unstable . I guess because Walla got kicked out , our players teamwork worked so well all of a sudden , and eventually first place was given to us . We had an extra free kick given on our last minute , and Hanji Kim nailed the ball right into the net . I will never forget that day of my life , and the days playing soccer at GSIS . ”
Freshman and first year GSIS student , Hannah Kim hustles down the field to retrieve possession of the ball . She successfully gains control and passes to Kylie Hur

I got on the varsity girls soccer team my sophomore year . As I got to play with other teams from different schools , I got the honor to represent our school in the most mannerly behavior . What I liked about playing soccer was playing a sport that I like and interacting with my team and my coaches . I learned a lot from my team physically and spiritually . ”
