I clearly remember the
elation the whole team felt
after our championship
game. I will never forget
team captain Sonya
Chung and her incredible
leadership that allowed
us our victories!

. being on a team helps you
learn to share individual
victories and shoulder
each others losses. That
sense of support and
camaraderie stays with
you long after the
number of wins..”
I loved the team spirit that
everyone, both players
and audiences, could feel
during the games..
Volleyball is about teamwork. My
teammates encouraged me from the
start to the end.

Being in the volleyball team was
the best choice I've ever made,
because not just did it gave me
healthy body, but taught me
how to become a great leader
and the beauty of working as
a whole.

1. Lee Na Kim and Janet Ahn raise their
arms as preparation for blocking. In volleyball, only players on the front row in
the rotation can block. 2. Mikino Furukawa, Olena Vasyltsova, and Deborah Buesing celebrate with each other after Olena
Vasyltsova scores a point for the team. For every point, the players gathered around in the middle of the court to celebrate
and encourage each other. 3. Coach Stracke tapes Janet Ahn’s wrist during the home game against APIS. Coach Stracke supported the players through all challenges throughout the season. 4. Joanne Lee bumps the ball during practice. Varsity and
junior varsity girls often combined their practice sessions to improve on their bumps, which is one of the most basic skills in
volleyball. 5. Jessie Lee performs an overhand serve during the game against APIS. As the captain of the team, Jessie was
strong in her volleyball skills while consistently caring and supporting her team members. 6. After a victorious win against
APIS, Stacy Chung and Ayaka Yamazaki run through a celebratory line. Boys varsity team made a celebratory line for the girls
varsity team and Stacy Chung led the way. 7. Robin Cho and Mikino Furukawa hold hands before the serve. As the opposin g
team served the ball, Robin and Mikino ran back to their arranged position. 8. Jessie Lee, Deborah
Buesing, Jackie Kim, Janet Ahn, Ayaka Yamazaki and Lee Na Kim huddle together after
the team scores a point. The players encouraged each other to
stay focused and keep up their energy.
