The Girls Varsity
Volleyball team achieved overwhelming success
during the KAIAC tournament as the champions
of the Red Division KAIAC session. In order to
achieve this success, the team established goals
to achieve throughout the session.
Senior Robin Cho explained one the goals as
maintaining the team bond. “Although practicing
our skills are important, we also wanted to start
as a team and end as a team.”
Freshmen Jackie Kim said, “We started
the season not really knowing each other. So
our overall goal was to build a team bond and
end together as a team.” She continued, “As
the season continued, I think we
achieved something beyond our
goals.”
In addition to building a team bond, senior
Stacy Chung said that the coaches’ advice helped
the team improve their skills. “Since we cared for
each other, the coaches sometimes gave some
harsh advice. However, we know that it is not to
be mean, but to help us improve our skills,” she

said.
Due to the intensive
care for each other, the girls were able to persevere and achieve success up to the final match of
the session, the KAIAC tournament.
At the KAIAC tournament, the girls competed with teams from four different schools.
The girls won the first game against Chadwick
with 3-0 sweep. Coach Forbes described the first
match as “filled with energy, passion, and mental
toughness.” Their success and excellence continued to the championship game against KIS.
Robin explained the game as a match to
settle the friendly rivalry against KIS. “For the last
three years, KIS has been winning over the girls
volleyball team. So they are our biggest rival.”
“Even though there
were times when we weren’t playing well, we got back into the game
and eventually won with 3 to 0, not
losing a single set to KIS. It was

amazing.”
Freshmen Angela Kang explained the
extensive support of the team members during
the game. “When
one of our players
made an ace or did something good
during the game, we would complement the player and say ‘good job’.
When the opposite happened, we
would say ‘shake it off’ and help the
player get back into motion.”
Through the intense rallies, excellent kills,
and a never giving up attitude, the Girls Varsity
Volleyball team proudly won the champion title
of the KAIAC season by winning all three sets.
The varsity volleyball players also received the
MVP, Best Hitter, Best Server and Best Passer
awards.
