Deborah Buesing and Jessie Lee perform “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele. Aware of each other’s various musical talents, students asked and agreed to accompany each other for the festive performances. GIN Club, also known as Global Issues Network, is a unique club because it extends beyond the community. GIN impacts the international community by working with Compassion International, a Christian based organization that supplies children with basic necessities. Compassion International provides necessities with donations such as hygienic items and clothes. In order to help support a child, GIN Club coordinates fundraisers, the most notable being Acoustic Christmas. During the planning stage of Acoustic Christmas, Ms. Keisha Rogers, the current sponsor of GIN Club, had no problem planning for this big event. “I’m impressed by our co-leaders, four seniors, who served before as underclassmen. They already knew everything to do and how to plan and implement the plan. I was really 174 y a d i l o H g n i n e t s i r l e G e h C GIN and Acoustic Christmas learning from them.” She further commented saying, “I’m tremendously impressed by the group. They ran the show smoothly and I was only there in the background so that the show can happen logistically.” Aside from Acoustic Christmas, GIN Club hosts different fundraisers. The night before Acoustic Christmas, the GIN Club sold concessions for the school play “Here Comes the Cows”. GIN Club plans to conduct a water conservation project, alongside with other schools within the area. When asked about what makes GIN Club so unique, Ms. Rogers responded, “I think it’s because they’re able to work by themselves without needing any instruction, I’m really excited about what the underclassmen can do next year.” supports 2009 GIN club created 2011 GIN Mountain Child Partners with Helps with Student Life 2010 GIN Acoustic Christmas 2014 GIN VASE funding NEW_GSIS Yearbook-USS_Part 4.indd 174 4/17/16 8:31 PM
