5 1 2 1. Jayhwan Lee, Andy Lee, and Paul Lee celebrate together after the Dragon Tail game. Andy, the tail, pulled the tail off from David Kim’s team to win points for Ms. Lyons and Mrs. Yan’s homeroom. 2. Emily Lee grabs a gummy bear out of the plastic bag full of ice. In this activity, there were different missions that they had to accomplish in one-minute to earn points. 3. Deborah Buesing, Andrew Keller and Brian Choi strike a pose for the audience as they act out their fashion theme of ‘Celebrity’. The fashion show took place on the second day of SEW. Each team practiced in their homeroom to fill two-minutes of performance time. In the actual performance, some students wore fancy wigs and costumes to enhance their show. 4. Louie Chung chases his opponent Zachariah Ward during the game “Capture the Flag.” In order to win the game, the offense player from each team had to steal the ball from the opponent’s area without getting their flags caught. Students who got their flags taken were sent to jail, where they were told to do push ups in the mini pool. 5. Julia Lee and Elissa Lee eat chicken that was provided especially for Spiritual Emphasis Week. For three days, students were asked to take a step away from academics and spiritually align themselves so that they could have the opportunity to get closer to God. 6. Teddy Kwon and Chang Hee Han dressed up as a couple to perform their theme “First Date” in the fashion show during SEW. Each homeroom had different themes and they were scored on student involvement, teacher involvement, fashion, and performance. 3 6 2013 2008 “My best memory in SEW was when I had to cut off a chunk of Ms. Forbes’ hair with school scissors.” - Ziho Hwang, c/0 ‘16 “My favorite SEW shirt was made by Eunji Oh (c/o ‘11) for the 2009 SEW. I remember cutting off the neck of the shirt and the Principal, R od Wallace joked that everyone else was going to start doing the same thing. I still own this shirt and wear it.” - Mrs. Lozano NEW_GSIS Yearbook-USS_Part 4.indd 153 4 2009 Rachel Yeo (c/o ‘13) hugs Mrs. Kim after she was ambushed by c/o ‘12 students Steven Whang, Yeundo Sang, and Da Yeon Lee. Mrs. Kim said, “These boys approached slowly with a kimchi basin filled with water. I anticipated that I couldn’t avoid them and just surrendered.” 2011 “The water fight was always a special time for me because it was a great time to finally have some payback on all of the students! Kay (c/o ‘12) was one of my art students and soccer players and an amazing girl, so you can imagine all the stress you caused me! I think if you knew her you would understand what I'm talking about!” - Mr. Walasek “ My favorite SEW memory is performing ‘Out of the Ashes’ for the 2011 SEW. It was a last minute call, but it turned out to be a successful skit. Probably the corniest ending I have ever acted during my time at GSIS.” - Monica Cho, C/0 ‘ 13 4/17/16 8:18 PM
