1. Ziho Hwang erases the sketches on his artwork after painting with watercolor. Ziho’s project visually conveyed stop motion images through three paintings. 2. Kelly Lee discusses her 3D sculpture with DP Art teacher Mrs. Kim. Kelly painted three artworks and then stacked them with hot glue to make a sculpture. 3. Known for her extensive use of three dimensional media on a two-dimensional platform, Jenny Kang paints clay planets with acrylic paint. Her piece represented detachment and anxiety between human relationships. 4. Hanna Nam applies oil pastel on an illustration board to express anxiety through a connection to the human body. She drew cells to represent the human body and implemented a gradation of colors to signify the progression of anxiety. 5. First year DP art student Soichiro Tagami talks with Mrs. Stracke about his artwork. Soichiro carved a wooden stamp with a carving knife and used it for printmaking. 6. Mrs. Stracke teaches Elmeri Antikainen watercolor techniques. After learning various techniques, the Visual Arts 9 class painted an expressive self portrait. 7. After learning how to use soft pastel, Younglee Kim uses the new medium to draw a skull. After drawing the outline of the skull, she had to shade and blend the pastel. 8. Chris Chung uses the light box to trace his original drawing onto another piece of paper. The class was exploring how to express who they are with the world and painted personal identity items. 9. During the Observational Drawing Unit, Elissa Lee uses indian ink to paint a glass bottle filled with water. Students learned perspective and shading techniques to create realistic artwork. 10. Showing his large sketch on wood to Mrs. Kim, Jeff Jin talks to her about his pen artwork and if the properties fit within the circular border. The praying skeleton reflected Jeff’s sadness. 11. Developing their ability to analyze artwork and apply principles of design in their art making, Miyabi Kamigawa identifies and explains where repetition is visible in the artwork. Students then had to make a poster of visual symbols identifying each of the 12 principles. 6 7 0 , Grade 1 Ethan Kim rts A l a MYP Visu 9 8 11 ool h c s t r A p o T CalArts Cornell University Purdue University Tracy Kim '11 Doris Byeon ‘11 Eugenia Lee '12 Katherine Leem '12 Chris Lee ‘14 GSIS Yearbook-USS_Part 3.indd 143 Carnegie Mellon Thomas Yun ‘15 Yvette Lee ‘15 Hannah Kang ‘15 end att i n m u r l u a o t a h st 10 SAIC Alex Lee ‘11 Debbie Kim ‘11 Nicole Kwon ‘13 Katelyn Park ‘15 RISD Jaeyoung Nam ‘13 Michelle Kim ‘13 Miriam Lee ‘14 Cynthia Lee ‘15 Toni Choi ‘15 Parsons Lisa Lee ‘11 Jamie Kye Hye Lee ‘11 Ted Kim ‘11 Lindsey Lee ‘11 Sueji Chae ‘14 Pratt Institute Eunyoung Park ‘11 Diane Kim ‘11 Veronica Shin ‘12 Christine Hwang ‘14 Teddy Ahn ‘15 Ashley Park ‘15 Davin Park ‘15 143 4/16/16 6:41 PM
