Throughout the years in TOK, I
became more aware of how I
obtained knowledge, specifically
religious knowledge, through ways of
knowing like sense perception and
emotion. This helped change my
perspective of the world.

1. Ethan Kim reviews his summative test
with Mr. Pitkin. Ethan wants to
major in business. He enjoyed business
class so much that he joined FBLA.
2. Jun Kwon and Max Kim review how to format an
essay after receiving their business exams. 3. Loukas Kang
illustrates a world map based on his mental map of reality which
includes ideas of what is true and what is false. During this TOK class, students
learned that the mental maps of what individuals believe as right or wrong can be
inaccurate, based on arbitrary conventions, or cultural bias. 4. Eric Lee and Ian Jun raise their
hands during a TOK discussion. Although TOK class is challenging, many students felt that it was worth
it for the profound ideas that it entails. 5. Mr. Tirkey reviews terms to help Miyabi Kamigawa prepare for a
World History exam. The class was learning about the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment. 6. Sophia Lee
writes down her answers on her white board. The class was doing an activity about essential prophecies in which they had to
write answers to questions specifically about the prophecies concerning Jesus’ birth. 7. Freddy Seo presents his poster in front of the
class that retells how God made the world in seven days. In Bible 9 the students were learning about how the world was created. 8. Sunny
Kim explains her group’s poster on Public and Private sectors of business. The private sector is the part of the economy run by private individuals and
businesses, whereas the public sector is the part of the economy that is controlled by the government. 9. Daniel Lim and Mr. Tirkey talk about industries
during World History class. In quarter two the students learned about industrialization and explored industries in different countries. 10. Julie
Kim, Harry Cho, and Jaclyn Kim discuss in their group what to draw for their Bible creation poster. After completing this activity,
Jaclyn truly felt how great God is in creating all these things. 11. Jinny Shin draws a world map. Jinny found it
interesting that students had all different world maps, such as differences in North America being
on the left versus Asia being on the left, or the size proportions of Korea compared
to neighboring countries.
