order
to be linked
to popular college
majors such as biotechnology, medicine, psychology, and etcetera, one must go
through IB Biology, a very demanding course.
Samuel Lee commented, “I chose Biology because I was interested in majoring in medicine and biology in my university.”
Some however, did not choose biology because of their college majors.
Senior Won Joon Lee said, “It’s the only science topic I enjoyed, I honestly like the courses
we did more than the other science subjects.”
Hye Young Lee commented, “I took IB Biology, because I’m interested in biology and it’s fun.”
Geena Huh also chimed, “I took IB Biology,
because I honestly like biology.”
One of the most notorious attributes of IB
Biology is the sheer amount of memorization
that is needed in order for one to succeed in the
course.
Senior Stacy Chung said, “Biology is just
purely memorization and you have to understand
the process.”
Heather Yang added, “The worst is it requires a lot of memorization, but that’s what you
have to do anyways.”
However, as much as students need to
memorize content, they found several benefits.
Senior Victor Jeong reflected, “Just simply taking the class of biology teaches you a lot
about studying in general. Since it’s a content
heavy course, it really require you to synthesize a
lot of information in a limited amount of time.“
“You learn the skills to teach yourself and
others. This class taught me how to study by myself effectively,” added Won Joon.
In terms of their favorite topics, students
were divided in what they believed was the most
interesting topic.
Hye Young Lee said, “My favorite topic was
molecular biology, t
