CVO PROJECT II
OVERVIEW
The goals of Phase B were to define tactics
to achieve these initiatives, and to identify potential
organizations to support execution of the defined tactics.
Project II comprised two consecutive phases, Phase A and Phase
B. The goal of Phase A was to review and refine the list of 111
Suggested Actions from Project I to arrive at six Priority initiatives
that Ontario food-producing animal veterinarians can champion.
The goals of Phase B were to define tactics to achieve these
initiatives, and to identify potential organizations to support
execution of the defined tactics. Discussion was drafted and presented for review and discussion
by participants at a Multi-Stakeholder Forum. Forum invitees
included representatives of food-producing animal veterinarians,
producers, species and commodity organizations and
government and other agencies involved with the production of
food from animals including beef cattle, bees, dairy cattle, fish,
goats, poultry, sheep, swine and veal.
In Phase A, the inventory of 111 Suggested Actions was reduced
to a list of 16 through a selection and consolidation process.
Next, the list of 16 Suggested Actions was reduced to six by
Ontario food-producing veterinarians through the use of an
iterative electronic survey process. The results were statistically
analyzed to evaluate the actions that were perceived as most
important, and potentially efficacious, for achieving the goal of
minimizing the development of antibiotic resistance. Following revision incorporating the feedback from the Multi-
Stakeholder Forum and the Project Advisory Group, Draft Tactics
for Priority Initiatives – for Stakeholder Consultation was created
and circulated via an electronic survey, to food-producing animal
veterinarians and other stakeholders for comment and feedback.
