PHASE B: MULTI-STAKEHOLDER FORUM The World Café discussion is a structured conversational process intended to facilitate discussion to access the collective intelligence and wisdom from the group and create consensus by connecting diverse perspectives. World Café Discussion of Tactics The group discussions began using a World Café discussion format, to acquire feedback and create consensus on the Draft Tactics for Priority Initiatives – for Forum Discussion. This method is a structured conversational process intended to facilitate discussion to access the collective intelligence and wisdom from the group and create consensus by connecting diverse perspectives. One trained Facilitator was stationed at each of 12 tables. Each Facilitator was assigned one of the Priority Initiatives. As such, each of the six Priority Initiatives was the focus of discussion at two of the World Café discussion tables. The Facilitators encouraged general discussion, ensured that each participant had ample opportunity for input, and recorded, on flip chart paper and notepaper, the primary points raised in the discussion. At the start of the exercise, each Facilitator introduced the Priority Initiative being discussed at that table, and guided the participants through a discussion of the following topics: • Is the Priority Initiative clear? If not, what might improve it? • Will these tactics assist this Priority Initiative to move forward? If yes, why? If no, why not? • What else might be helpful to a successful outcome for this Initiative? After 25 minutes of discussion, the participants moved to their next assigned table, to discuss one of the other Priority Initiatives. After 20 minutes of discussion, the participants 37  moved again and this was repeated until they had completed a total of four different rounds of discussion. The third and fourth rounds of discussion were 20 minutes in length. Each participant at the Forum was assigned a list of four tables to move through, ensuring that they would discuss four of the six Priority Initiatives being addressed. The table assignments also ensured that there were individuals from a variety of backgrounds at each discussion. For the second, third and fourth rounds of discussion, the Facilitator introduced the specific Priority Initiative that they were covering, and then re-capped the discussions and input from the previous group(s) at that table. Any additional points about the proposed tactics that had not been discussed previously were recorded. The two Facilitators that had been assigned the same Priority Initiative worked together to consolidate the points of discussion for that Priority Initiative. One Facilitator from each Priority Initiative reported the findings to the entire group, and some questions and discussion ensued. Round Table Discussion of Resources and Challenges Using a round table format for the second part of the Forum, the attendees discussed potential organizations that could spearhead the efforts, as well as possible challenges associated with the specific draft tactics for the Priority Initiative assigned to that table. The Facilitator provided a list of potential organizations, as shown in Table 13, identified by the Project Team to stimulate the discussion.
