At the Gathering it was undisputed that more women in politics is an essential task, and that the sharing of strategies among parliamentarians in the region spurs progress towards this goal. The Group agreed that the answer to real gender equality is not solely in the numbers. Sustainable, transformative change will occur when patriarchal systems are replaced by systems valuing real equality for all.
