Facilitator: Keila González
Ms. González is NDI’s resident director in Mexico. She has a BA in psychology (cum laude) with a minor in human development from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo. From 2008 to 2010 she coordinated a regional program to support women's caucuses. She also served as principal contact for civil society and public safety programs. Prior to working with NDI, she led the Democratization of Political Leadership project, developed by the civic movement Citizen Participation in the Dominican Republic. Ms. González has trained and advised political parties and civil society organizations in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Argentina, and Bolivia, on topics such as: strategic planning, best practices for effective political parties, the relationship between political parties and civil society, outreach to new social sectors, advocacy campaigns, leadership training, working in coalitions, community capacity-building, and facilitation of decision-making processes, among others.

NDI works with democrats in every region of the world to build political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and promote citizen participation, openness, and accountability in government.

Program is dedicated to increasing the number of women in elected positions and improving women’s leadership in political parties and civil society. To achieve these goals, NDI implements programs and projects that strengthen women’s skills for engaging in politics, demonstrate that women are impacted differently by public policy, and improve the public perception of women in political life.
