SALON T A L K The American Cocker Spaniel Michele Grenkow, CMG, CCMS The American Cocker Spaniel (ACS) is a bird dog of medium size and it is not supposed to have an overly perfuse coat. Due to it being in the Sporting Group for the most part we know that it should be carded, but if we are maintaining for companion clients the body will be clippered in a 7 blade. Although we can modify for clients want and needs, you will find that overall the 7 blade does make easy work of a sometimes difficult coat. Now we know that the ACS can only be shown in the conformation ring carded, but I am going to go over some widely accepted styles that have been given to the Cocker Spaniel.
