MIKE METZGER

IM: The method to learn backflips before foam pits existed, simply setting up a FMX ramp to point at a sand dune... Does it make everything more crazy or more memorable?

MM: I was the first so that's all that matters. It was a lot of work to accomplish my goal and it was worth it when I won X Games.

IM: Nowadays FMX, who do you think is the next King?

MM: I don't watch FMX anymore. I have no idea who anyone is.

IM: If we put yourself, Tony Hawk, Mat Hoffman and Shawn Palmer in a same room, what may happen?

MM: Probably talk about X Games moments.

IM: Missing a seat grab...

What comes first in mind (after SOS)?

MM: Bummer.

IM: Broken femurs, legs, back, arms... How do FMX (and BMX and skateboarders!) athletes cope with the crazy US costs with hospitals, doctors and physical therapists for rehabilitation, long term disability, equipment?

MM: File bankruptcy and struggle for the rest of your life as some old circus clown that could ride a bike.

IM: Best way to evolve in FMX?

MM: Practice.
