The five disk model “V” drill was designed mostly for sowing fall seeded crops between rows of standing corn or cotton. Two unique features of these drills were that the row spacing could be adjusted from six to seven or eight inches simply by moving a lever, and that the outside rows had lateral movement designed into them so that they could swing in when they came in contact with corn hills. The model shown here is actually a model “X,” indicating that it also has a fertilizer box. The tandem hitch with caster wheel could be used to field cultivate and drill in one pass.
