Meals at home

At breakfast , the family often ate bread, dipped in wine. For lunch, they might have bread with goat cheese, olives, and figs, followed by soup and barley bread.

For dinner, a Greek family would eat vegetables stewed in olive oil, and for the main course, a jaybird or a swallow trapped in the field that day.
