Celebrating 150 Years
Chamber celebrates milestone
anniversary by leaving a legacy
The Chamber recently celebrated its
150th anniversary with a special event
focusing on the various ways the
Chamber has influenced the regional
landscape through its work with the
community, its innovative ideas and
how it sees its role in the future.
The event, held at the Scranton
Cultural Center, included musical,
dance and video acts, as well as
an interactive “trip through time”
preceding the celebration. The
event also showcased the unveiling
of the Chamber’s plan to use event
proceeds to sustain further workforce
development through its Skills in
Scranton affiliate, including small
business internships.
“It has been a lot of fun revisiting the
legacy of community and economic
development efforts spearheaded
by the leaders of our business
community over the past 150
years,” said Chamber President Bob
Durkin. “We hope this establishes a
community narrative that this is and
always has been a great place to live
and do business.”
Founded in 1867, the Chamber boasts
more than 1,500 members throughout
the United States.
Here’s what some of our members had to say about the celebration:
