for the day. If we have activities planned, it makes
it easier in a way, because we can be free to be in
general.
We do a mixture of Montessori and Classical ho-
meschooling because each of my three children
have different learning styles. I’m still figuring
them out, and learning to be gentle with them and
myself. My pressure cookers and crock pots get a
workout because honestly, I can’t really cook the
way that I want during the school year. I need that
time during the day to focus on my children and
my work.
GEM: When and why did you begin homeschooling?
Natasha: I started several years ago (I’d have to
check my blog, of course) because the Chicago
Public School system was making me nervous. Giv-
en that they still make me nervous, I figure it’s still
my reason. I do have days where I wonder if I could
get more done in life if they were in school, but then
the news comes on and I’m assured of my choices.
GEM: What kind of research, if any, did you do
before taking that step?
Natasha: Since I’m a blogger, I searched blogs,
Pinterest and Twitter hashtags. I did find one blog,
