For a local getaway that still feels like you ’ ve ventured to a different place , my children and I love staying at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena , Illinois .
Just a few hours outside of Chicago , Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa is a sprawling hilly landscape with homes and town homes hidden amongst thickets of trees . Staying in one of the resort homes is a luxurious experience that makes for a memorable vacation for the whole family . With two young daughters who love swimming , the indoor pool can be enjoyed year-round . My 15-year-old son plays basketball for hours . And I , of course , enjoy relaxing by the fireplace and the wonderful restaurants in the resort .
Staying at Eagle Ridge always makes my family and I feel like we belong to an exclusive community . Just a short ride away is the quaint historic Downtown Galena . Main Street is lined with delicious restaurants , gift shops , a river and trolley where you can easily spend a nice part of the day taking your time strolling the streets and slowing down a bit with the family .
Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa has become a favorite family destination where my family and I can bond and create many cherished memories for years to come .
