What You Missed at
Good Food Festival & Conference
This year, the Festival welcomed an incredible
4,500+ attendees, more than 180 speakers, more
than 180 exhibitors and an amazing lineup of
events, panels, and activities.
Leading up to the event, Momma Cuisine posted
about the many opportunities for eating, learning and playing at the Festival - things your kids
would love, DIY tips and tricks from experienced
cooks, farmers and gardeners, as well as information about Pilot Light and Purple Asparagus, two
organizations committed to bringing healthy
food education to children.
Well there was all that and more this year!
The Egg Coloring with Natural Dyes workshop
was a hit with kids and adults alike. Parents enjoyed learning about this safe and natural way to
dye eggs. There were a surprising variety of colors created using only veggies, berries and spices!

The Chefs at Play stage included Sandra Holl of
Floriole, who in January was named Pastry Chef
of the Year at the Jean Banchet Awards, the highest honors in the Chicago culinary community.
During her demo, she was a assisted by a very
helpful sous chef! Photo: Barry Brecheisen
New this year at the Festival is the CPS Student
Chef Stage, sponsored by Miller Poultry of Orland,
Indiana, which produces Amish-raised poultry.
Culinary students representing Prosser Career
Academy provided cooking demos and samples
throughout the day. The students take part in the
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Culinary
Arts Programs offered in Chicago Public Schools
(CPS). Photo: Barry Brecheisen
There was even a special appearance by the Easter Bunny, who brought Good Food and smiles
to all! Mark your calendars and join the fun next
year at UIC Forum, March 16-18, 2017! Photo:
