LITHUANIA Ingredients 1⁄2 c Butter Preparation 1⁄2 c sugar 1. 2. 1⁄2 t lemon peel, finely grated 1⁄2 t vanilla 6 egg yolks 3⁄5 c flour 3⁄10 c cornstarch 6 white eggs 1⁄4 t salt 1⁄4 c sugar 2 c sour cream 3⁄10 c sugar 1 t vanilla 77 GODA PAULAVIČIŪTĖ Grease a 9-inch spring form pan; set aside. Cream the butter until light; gradually add 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon peel and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. 3. Add the yolks, one at a time, beating well after each one. 4. Mix the flour, 1/3 cup of corn starch and 1/4 teaspoon salt; stir into the butter mixture. 5. Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add 1/4 cup of sugar; beat until stiff peaks form. Stir a small amount of egg white into the flour mixture. Fold the flour mixture into the egg whites. 6. Spread 1/2 cup of batter evenly to the bottom of the greased pan. Place right under the broiler until lightly browned. 7. Spread another 1/2 cup batter over browned layer, broil again. make 5 layers. Stir together the sour cream, the remaining 1/3 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. 8. Spread half of this mixture over the top cake layer. 9. Broil for 1 minute or until it sets. Using the remaining cake batter, add five more layers, broiling each one as described above. Cover the last layer with the remaining sour cream mixture. 10. Broil for 1 minute or until it sets. 11.
