PAGE 5 Caring through Sharing The spirit of humanity and compassion was evident amongst GPSites, as they lent a helping hand to those affected by the Ockhi cyclone and the unprecedented deluge that devastated the state. The management and staff of GPS gener- ously contributed to help build a home for one of the victims of the Ockhi cyclone. Students, parents and staff volunteered across the city and also extended a helping hand by collecting and donating relief items which were handed over to the district collector in August. Our children helped make Chekkutty dolls for the flood affected weavers of Chendamangalam. After the havoc caused by the floods in 2018, GPS, in collaboration with Plan @ Earth initiated a programme to rebuild houses for flood affected victims. The keys of the first house that was rebuilt were handed over by students of GPS in January 2019. The keys of the second house were handed over in March. Charity at X’mas In December, students of Grade 5 visited Sree Poornathrayeesa Vridha Sadhanam Charitable trust, Puthiya- kavu, Tabitha Old Age Home, Irumpa- nam and Sree Poornathayeesha Sree Poothrikovil Kshetram, Mulanthuruthy and gifted the residents there with daily provisions.
