PAGE 23 Fielding an impressive team Football Frenzy Team GPS won the Runners Up Trophy (in the under 10 and under 16 category) at the 19th ALL KERALA CBSE INTER SCHOOL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT held in the Regional Sports Centre in January. The GPS cricket team won the 32nd REFINIAN CUP Cricket against Bhavans Vidya Mandir Elammakkara. Geo Jacob was the highest wicket taker and run scorer. He was also adjudged Man of the Match at the Cochin Refineries Cricket Tournament held in No- vember. In August, GPS defeated the Tripunithura Cricket Club by 8 wick- ets in the match! Geo Jacob was the top scorer with 68 runs off 31 balls! Nithin Krishna scored 30 runs off 41 balls and Neelabh Somani notched up 33 runs off 20 balls. Remarkable show at the MUNSHI INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP 2018! Hritika Ashok Menon (Grade 6) who came 1st in the 100m and 200m race as well as long jump was the Individual Champion in sub junior cate- gory. Arman Sujith (Grade 4) won gold in the shot put competition. Jose Paul Paramel (Grade 11) won the 2nd prize in the 200m and 100m race. Akash Alphonso Francis (Grade 4) won bronze in the 50 m race. Team Gps also won the team champion- ship in sub junior category. Giving their best shot Scintillating footwork was showcased at the 7th Classic Cup Interschool Football Tournament in January as GPS lifted the cup (4-3) in the under 13 category. In the under 11 category, Cochin Refinery School were the champions. Alvin George of GPS and Amirul Ameen of Sree Narayana School were re- spectively adjudged Best Player and Best Goal Keeper of the Tournament in the under 13 category. In the under 11 catego- ry, Nishaan K P of Kochin Refinery School and Ishaan Ismail of Cochin Refinery School were the respective Best Player and Best Goal Keeper. Our students make a mark at the Leapstart Badminton Tournament in October! The Leapstart Badminton champions GPS made quite a smash at the River Bourne Centre Inter School Badminton Championship held in September, when they won the 1st place in the Under-17 category (Boys) and 2nd Place in the Girls Under-17 category. In the Under-15 Girls category, the team won the 2nd place. In the Under 13 as well as Under 11 Boys category, GPS secured the 2nd place. Team GPS won the Runners Up title at the tournament. At the Open Tournament Badminton in December, at the River Bourne Centre, Navneeth Varma (Grade 5) was 1st in the U11 singles, while Madhav Krishnadas (Grade 2) won the 3rd place in the U9 Singles. Samyukta S (Grade 5) as well as Niveditha Ajay (Grade 3) won 1st place in the U11 Doubles. In the U13 Singles, Abhinav Suresh (Grade 7) won 2nd place while Amna Hajara Niyas (Grade 5) and Naomi Sinjo (Grade 5) were 3rd in the U13 doubles. Chinmay Santhosh (Grade 9 GPS-I) and Rohan Abraham Kokkatt (Grade 8) won the 2nd Place in U15 doubles.
