MAX MAKES HISTORY 2016.05 The headlines after the Spanish Grand Prix hailed the arrival of the new prince of Formula 1 - Max Verstappen - the Dutch 18 year old became the youngest ever winner of a grand prix. This is a true-to-life fairy tale story of a teenager who has been fast-tracked to the upper echelons of Formula 1, promoted unexpectedly from Red Bull’s junior team to their A-team, and despite all the pressure, what does the youngster do? He wins his first race driving a car in which he only sat in a couple of days before the weekend in Barcelona. Remarkable, amazing, awesome, fantastic, sensational - all words that aptly describe this amazing young man. Honestly this was exactly what Formula 1 needed, at a time of disenchantment among the ranks of fans. Not only did the Spanish Grand Prix deliver Max to the maximum, but also threw a spanner in the works of the Mercedes juggernaut. Finally they have been derailed and neither Silver Arrows driver made it onto the podium. Another war has broken out within the team, pretty much like a rerun of their collision at Spa-Francorchamps some years ago. The proverbial unmovable collided with the unstoppable and the result... well that’s what has just injected a much needed dollop of interest into the season. But in the end, no matter what, the day belonged to one kid: Bravo Max!
