GPI 2016 Russian Grand Prix Edition | Page 2

FOUR FROM FOUR 2016.04 Four times in a row I have had to write an introduction for the GPI magazines, of the 2016 season, hailing a Nico Rosberg victory. Honestly I have run out of superlatives for these achievements. The German has his sights set on his first Formula 1 crown and is going about attaining it in an impressively ruthless manner. He has trounced his ill-luck plagued teammate, and most likely challenger for the title, as well as containing the formidable might of Ferrari who are throwing everything they have at this campaign. Mercedes have yet again produced a superb race car for their drivers, but dominance is not always a popular thing in sport. The team is oddly under fire for a situation in which no wrong is happening to Rosberg and plenty bad stuff going down on the other side of the garage. Silly conspiracy theories have sprouted which has supposedly ‘forced’ Mercedes team - no doubt Toto Wolff - to write an impassioned letter to fans stating the case for his team. It would be foolish to script this scene in a soap opera, but as they say life is at times stranger than fiction. However, the massive news to emerge in the aftermath of the Russian Grand Prix weekend is the demotion of Daniil Kvyat and promotion of Max Verstappen within the Red Bull organisation. The unexpected, but sensational move will have a major impact on Formula 1 for a very long time... We have it all covered for your enjoyment.
