THE PENDULUM HAS SWUNG
2016.11
In retrospect the Hungarian Grand Prix was a mundane affair for the
neutrals among us. If you happen to be a Lewis Hamilton fan you will be
delighted with the result as your man is now top of the F1 world championship
standings for the first time this season, the momentum is on his side.
If you are a Nico Rosberg fan then you will be concerned that a 43 points
lead has been nullified in a couple of months, he now trails in the title
battle after being so dominant early on in the season.
As a neutral, the race was hardly a cracker... Except of course for that
intriguing duel between grumpy Kimi Raikkonen and precocious Max
Verstappen, which will go down as a highlight of the race.
There was also the chase by Sebastian Vettel on Daniel Ricciardo at the
very end. But in truth the whole thing was decided on the opening lap
between the drag race to Turn 1 through to Turn 4.
The real big talking point that emerged from the Hungaroring weekend
was not in the race, but rather during the wet-dry marathon qualifying.
Did Rosberg slow down enough when double yellows were waved during
his pole winning lap? We have it all in this issue. Enjoy!
