GPGC Renovation Updates

GPGC 2014 Course Renovation Update Week 4 We are nearing the 25% completion mark for the project! Most of the work has been concentrated in the south west section of the course (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 12) Much of this area is now ready for drainage work and top soil which will begin in the next week to 10 days. Work will begin moving east and north shortly. Project highlights • The new pond on #7 is nearly complete and work has been started on the pond expansion near the 7th green. • The main storm drain all along the south side of the course is now installed. This will be one of the spines of our site’s storm water management complex. • Reshaping of holes 3, 4 and 5 have been approved by the architect and are moving to the next stage of development. • The green on # 6 will be replaced with one that drains appropriately. The large river birch trees behind the green have been removed. The trees had gotten so tall that they were shading the green too much. A new planting plan has been devised. • Crews have started removing the 1st green as well. This green will be rebuilt in the same location and will be more representative of our other greens. • A large delivery of fairway drainage pipe has been delivered and will be installed in the coming days. This is part of our effort to ensure playable conditions as soon as possible after large rain events. • With the exception of right now (Friday, August 1st @ 1:45 pm) the weather has been cooperating with no real rain to slow us down. Hopefully this trend will continue! Look for updates on the project as well as pictures and video clips each Friday through the end of October! If you have questions, please contact Bob Quill at
