GPGC Renovation Updates

GPGC 2014 Course Renovation Update Week 7 Rain continues to be our nemesis on this project. At least a week of work has been lost to recent storms, all one-inch or more. With a little cooperation from Mother Nature we do have an opportunity to catch up on things though. Next week marks the half-way point in the project! Project highlights • Special drainage has been added to the 9th and 15th greens to address excess ponding of water in the past. This will allow these two greens to dry up much faster than before. • Work has begun in the practice area between holes 15 and 16. This area is being excavated to provide for detention after large storms. The water will be present after large events for approximately 24 hours and the drain. Several target green are being constructed and will be elevated above the detention line. • All of our greens have been covered in plastic and treated to remove all organic materials in the soil. The covers will be removed on August25th and the greens will be prepared for new bent grass seed. • The pond between hole 9 and 10 includes an island which has long been home to 2 willow trees. Both trees have been in decline over the years. We made the decision to remove them and will replant trees on the island this spring. • The focus of this project is beginning to move to the east and north with a lot of work taking place on holes 13, 14, 15 and 16. Look for updates on the project as well as pictures and video clips each Friday through the end of October! If you have questions, please contact Bob Quill at
