GPGC Renovation Updates

GPGC 2014 Course Renovation Update Week 11 Rain has slowed our project with 1” + events on six occasions since we have started. Nevertheless we are making progress. Seeding is in progress, bunkers are being completes, tees expanded and fairways are being readied for seeding. We have completed all of the major stormwater work including a new lake on # 7 along with a major expansion of the existing lake. Detention areas have been added in front of # 2, 3 and #13 tees, east of the 6th green, in east of the 13th fairway (willow area) on the left side of 14 (off the tee and in front of the green) and all along the left side of Hole #15. The practice area has also been lowered to detain water after large rain events. All of the storm pipe is installed and the system is mostly operable. Project highlights • All but one green has been seeded. Several tees are seeded. • Green complexes at #3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are nearly complete with more following on a daily basis. • The 3rd fairway has been seeded and we hope to complete an average of one fairway perday for the next week or so. • Crews have switched their attention to the northeast holes (9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18,) where we expect work to proceed much faster than on the front nine as there is less major earth work to be performed. • All of the old railroad ties around tees have been removed and will be replaced by concrete curbs. • Irrigation repairs are finally nearing completion – a critical component to getting seed to germinate. Look for updates on the project as well as pictures and video clips each Friday through the end of October! If you have questions, please contact Bob Quill at
