GPGC Renovation Updates

GPGC 2014 Course Renovation Update Week 12 Great weather has finally arrived and the progress has accelerated because of it! With 10 straight days of sun (and another 5 or 6 predicted) the contractor has completed holes 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Holes 11, 12, 1 and 2 are next up for completion. At this point, completion is defined and all tees, greens fairways and roughs have been seeded and green and bunker complexes sodded. In addition, all irrigation, course drainage and storm water management infrastructure is installed and fully functional. Fairway edges are marked by a straw mat that holds seed from the rough from migrating into the fairway. Project highlights • All tees and greens have been seeded and grass is beginning to germinate. • Cart paths have been excavated throughout the front nine and sub base installed. The next step is asphalt paving. • All completed parts of the course have full irrigation and is being watered regularly to promote germination. • Construction crews have turned their attention to holes 1, 2, 11, and 12 for their finishing touches. Crews are also completing mass grading on holes 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18. Top soil will be spread next and irrigation repairs and relocations will be made while other crews build new sand traps and prepare each hole for seeding. • Our current schedule anticipated completion of major work on the course to be on or about October 24th. Weather (as always) will be a determining factor in meeting that goal. • In November, the parking lot will be removed and replaced. Look for updates on the project as well as pictures and video clips each Friday through the end of October! If you have questions, please contact Bob Quill at
