GPGC Renovation Updates

GPGC 2014 Course Renovation Update Week 13 Rain has returned and with a vengeance! The course received 2 inches of rain on Thursday evening. The good news is that those areas that are complete, handled the water very well. The bad news is that we will lose at least two days of work before other areas dry out enough to move equipment on it. • • • • • • Cart paths have been excavated throughout the front nine and base has been installed. Holes 4 and five have been paved. All completed parts of the course have full irrigation and is being watered regularly to promote germination. Construction crews have completed holes 1, 2, 8 and 9. We now have the entire front nine complete along with holes 11 and 12! Holes 1, 2 and 9 were seeded and then covered with straw mat. This will accomplish several goals: It will hold the seed in place during rains, it will retain more heat and it will hold moisture to promote germination. We will repeat this process on the remaining holes (10, 13. 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18) Our current schedule anticipated completion of major work on the course to be on or about October 24th. Weather (as always) will be a determining factor in meeting that goal. In November, the parking lot will be removed and replaced. Look for updates on the project as well as pictures and video clips each Friday through the end of October! If you have questions, please contact Bob Quill at Robert.quill@glenviewparks.org
