Instruction PUTTING EYE LINE The set-up is imperative for an eff ective golf shot. This is applicable to all types of shots that the game has, including putting. Touching upon the role of the eye line in putting, the eyes should ideally be right above the ball or just marginally inside it. This allows the putter to swing on plane through the stroke. A deviation in the set-up, which could be either the eyes falling in front of the ball or well inside the ball would result in the putter moving in an out- in or in-out path. This could easily result in the ball not starting on line, inconsistent impacts and loss of feel for distance control. Eyeline Inside Eyeline Outside If the eye line is set-up well it would allow the putter to swing on plane keeping the club head in balance.
