High Soft
LOB SHOT
This is one of the diffi cult shots to play in Golf. The purpose of lob shot is to carry the ball
over the hazard. Bunker / Water to a pin placed close to the edge of the green and stop
the ball dead after it lands. Importantly the soft lob shots requires knowledge of correct lie,
technique, commitment, confi dence and enough practice to execute this shot successfully.
This is a shot you should play only when you have no other choice.
PLAYING THE
SHOT:
1) For playing the lob
shot it is important to
consider the lie of the
ball, you need to have
decent lie, with the
ball placed on cushion
of grass so that the
leading edge of the
club slides beneath the
ball comfortably.
For lob shot you need
to stand with your feet,
hips and shoulders
open in relation to
the target. This will
increase loft of the club
for height of ball fl ight.

2) With open clubface
(Sand Wedge, Lob
Wedge) aim little to
the right of the target.
Place the ball forward
in your stance. Weight
evenly distributed.
