Amandeep Johl National Coach Former Asian Tour Player National Amateur Champion A good set up is imperative to be able to make a good solid body turn and effectively deliver a solid blow to the golf ball. A poor posture can easily throw a player off balance and make it impossible for the club to come back to the exact place from where it started. Remember, the golf club is extremely small and the sweet spot is even smaller and thus it’s very important for the player to be able to move in a rhythmic and very controlled manner if he/she hopes to make a centered contact. A good solid foundation is thus extremely important. A good posture must have an engaged core that makes the spine absolutely straight but yet relaxed. The weight in the feet should be in the balls of the feet and arms hanging below the shoulders. The knees nicely fl exed and in an athletic mode. 3 C posture is also not very good for making a good strong golf swing. It’s un-athletic, lazy and leads to very rounded shoulders. It becomes impossible to make a good shoulder and body turn 4 GolfPlus Junior November-December 2019 23
