ON THE GREEN:
MORE ONE-PUTTS,
NO THREE-PUTTS
Although putting styles vary
from golfer to golfer, all
good putters share common
traits. The most important
one is the ability to repeat
a stroke that starts the
ball rolling true and on its
intended line at good speed.
This consistency can best
be achieved by a shoulder-
controlled, pendulum stroke,
which prevents excessive
body movement and hand
action. Practice while
holding alignment stick or
club under your arms. This
gives you an awareness of
your shoulders slightly tilting
as the left shoulder starts
to motion up-and-down
(reverse for left-handed
golfers).
