GPJ: Who prompted you to take up
Golf out of all the other sports?
SR: My father works at Classic Golf
& Country Club and has always been
interested in golf. The club has provided
me with the support and facilities to take
my game to the next level.
GPJ: When did you start playing
junior golf tournaments?
GPJ: Who prompted you to take up
golf out of all the other sports?
KP: My Uncle once recommended me
to play golf and that was the time when
I originally started playing in Category
D. Every weekend he took me to play at
the golf course and persuaded me to play
golf tournaments.
GPJ: When did you start playing
Junior Golf Tournaments?
KP: I started playing Junior tournaments
when I was 10 years old in 2014.
GPJ: How do you manage your time
between golf and studies?
KP: I manage my time by practicing
early morning and studying in the
evenings every day. I play till around 4
pm and then my main focus is only to
concentrate on my studies.

SR: I started playing junior tournaments
in the year 2009 when I was around 7
years old.
GPJ: How do you manage your time
between golf & studies?
SR: I try to maintain a balance between
golf and studies, preferring not to miss
anything and hence manage time by
sticking to a timetable.
GPJ: What has been the role of IGU?
SR: IGU has been a great support
system. It organises junior tournaments
each year across different golf courses
which help us develop as a golfer. The
points gained through these tournaments
determine our overall ranking nationally
& internationally.
GPJ: What are your future plans?
SR: I am focused on turning a
professional and the goal is to play on the
PGA Tour. It is also a dream of mine to
represent India at the Olympics.
GPJ: How has golf helped you in your
day to day activity?
SR: It has made me stronger, taught me
how to play the game with sportsman’s
spirit, to learn from defeat and most
importantly to continue believing my
ability and only work hard.

GPJ: Your advice to junior golfers.
SR: Eat healthy, be honest with your
scoring. Win or lose but with a smile
and most importantly have fun and
enjoy the game.
GPJ: Fitness is really important.
Tell us about your day to day fi tness
regime.
SR: Before school every morning I
do yoga followed with running and
then weight training for fi tness in the
evening.

KP: IGU organises national tournaments
across the country and gives juniors
an exposure to compete against other
players.

KP: I want to turn a professional golfer

to enjoy the sport and be patient while
playing.
