Club News 6TH MAHARAJ KRISHAN JUNIORS GOLF TOURNAMENT M aharaj Krishan Juniors Golf Tounament was played at Chandigarh Golf Club on February 8th & 9th. Over 70 children from New Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttrakhand and Tricity participated in the tournament. Two young golfers Subhash Tamang and Sadbhav Acharaya from Nepal were also the participants. The youngest participant three years old Nihaal singh was awarded special prize for playing all nine holes with a laudable score. Anupinder Singh Grewal, Judge at Punjab and Haryana High Court awarded the winner. An initiative by the “Milkha’s Charitable Trust” has encouraged young talent in the fi eld of sports and education. Lending support to the initiative was Sameer Sinha, Managing Director, Kensville Golf & Country Club who welcomed the junior champs with open arms. Over 35 junior golfers from Gujarat and other parts of the country participated in the tournament. Jeev perceives that this is the ideal way to give back to the game which has given him everything and that every individual should get the chance to play and improve. Mr. Milkha has the vision is to create future Olympians and Champions who bring laurels to the country. The Milkha’s Charitable Trust founded in 2002, has been encouraging sports among the youth in villages. The trust has been providing them free sports equipment to play and has a goal of improving Human life for the underprivileged youth of today. These tournaments will be a part of the Ultimate Golf Junior Tour which has been conducting golf tournaments across the country for over a decade. Top performers in these tournaments will be given an opportunity and support to compete in international golf tournaments around the world. Promising juniors golfers will be given access to professional golf instruction, fi tted golf equipment and other necessary support to pursue their dream of becoming a champion.
