ProÀ le GP: Who prompted you to take up golf out of all the other sports? SM: It was my father who got me into golf at the age of 7. In 2014-15, I was no. 2 in the west zone and had won 25 tournaments. I had played the Usha juniors at DGC for 2016 I ¿ nished 2nd and ¿ nished 3rd in 2017. And currently playing on the main tour. GP: Is there any foremost feeling that you get, at the ¿ rst tee off during the commencement of a tournament? If Yes, Share the same. SM: Not really, I’m actually more excited than nervous, which obviously helps. GP: How has golf helped you in your day-to-day activity? SM: Golf has helped me gain control GP: Your advice to other Junior Golfers. SM: My advice to other junior golfers is ¿ tness is very fundamental as now you aren’t competing only against people who play golf but athletes who play the sport. CAT. C over my emotions. It has made me more focused, patient, con¿ dent and has helped me in making me learn how to handle pressure. GP: Is there any other game/sport you are associated with? SM: Yes, I also play squash and badminton. GP: Fitness is really important. Tell us about your day-to-day ¿ tness regime. SM: I wake up @ 5 and my day begins with one hour yoga everyday without fail. For endurance, I take to other sports like squash and badminton. GP: When did you start playing Junior Golf Tournaments? SM: I started playing Junior Golf Tournaments in the year 2013. CAT. D GP: Who prompted you to take up golf out of all the other sports? Samarveer/ Tavish: My father put me into golf as in his childhood he used to play golf and the IGU junior and sub junior circuit over 25 years ago. Also our great grandfather who is 95 years has been playing golf for over 50 years. He is one of the oldest members of Chandigarh golf course and that’s an inspiration for us as well. Samarveer/ Tavish: We have both learnt to be disciplined and calm. We try and stay less excited and more importantly we are learning to appreciate nature and its force. We also have learnt to appreciate our competitors and respect other’s talent as well. We try and learn from others games as well. GP: Your advice to other Junior Golfers. Play honestly and against yourself ¿ rst as this game is all about your own score. Each day on the same course can be different. Work hard and don’t look at others game.
