Phillips represented Team USA at the inaugural Junior President’s Cup, posting a 3-0 record. Phillips remained in the national spotlight when he qualiÀ ed for the U.S. Junior and advanced to the Round of 16. The 17-year- old future Georgia Bulldog was recognized as the South Carolina Junior Golf Association’s Boys’ Player of the Year for the third consecutive year. We sincerely appreciate their support and are looking forward to a fun and competitive 2018 Season at these excellent golf courses.” JUNIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP The Southwest Louisiana Junior Golf Association has a $1,000 scholarship that is available to a player for the upcoming semester, It’s the Mike Heinen Scholarship. Derek Smith, the head pro at Mallard Cove and head of the SWLJGA, said the scholarship is open to any junior golfer who has participated on a Calcasieu Parish high school golf team and is currently enrolled at McNeese State or Sowela Technical College. CGA JUNIOR BOYS Trent Phillips of Inman, S.C., makes history by becoming the À rst back-to-back Carolinas Junior Boys’ Player of the Year. Phillips edged North Carolina Junior Boys’ champion Quinn Riley by À ve points in the À nal boys’ rankings. Capping off CGA JUNIOR GIRLS For the second straight year, Burgess was named the Beth Daniel Player of the Year by the South Carolina Junior Golf Association. She was also selected the inaugural recipient of the David Parrott Girls’ Award, given to the Carolinas Girls’ Team member who displays excellence in sportsmanship, ability, and academics.
