Cup, posting a 3-0 record.
Phillips remained in the national
spotlight when he qualiÀ ed for
the U.S. Junior and advanced to
the Round of 16. The 17-year-
old future Georgia Bulldog was
recognized as the South Carolina
Junior Golf Association’s Boys’
Player of the Year for the third
consecutive year.

The Southwest Louisiana Junior
Golf Association has a $1,000
scholarship that is available
to a player for the upcoming
semester, It’s the Mike Heinen
Scholarship. Derek Smith, the
head pro at Mallard Cove and
head of the SWLJGA, said the
scholarship is open to any junior
golfer who has participated on a
Calcasieu Parish high school golf
team and is currently enrolled
at McNeese State or Sowela
Technical College.

who displays excellence in
sportsmanship, ability, and
academics.
