These are subject to ongoing compression and release, and tend to ‘work harden’. Depending on usage, they tend to disintegrate (often suddenly) after seven to 10 years. Replacing them is a DIY task for any person who can (still) use tools, but it is not a costly job to have done by a mechanic. Replacement bushes cost little.
