model. They have large owner communities,
such as Facebook groups and clubs, and can
offer first-time users lots of hints, tips and
support.
WEAR AND TEAR
When you purchase a new caravan, you know
exactly what's happened to it as you're the
only person to use it. But buy a secondhand
van and you will have absolutely no idea
how well the previous owner has looked after
it, whether or not they have had it properly
serviced or if they have damaged it in any way.
A hybrid camper is a great way
to get into the RV lifestyle.
By far the biggest issue is the damage you
cannot see. Water ingress inside the walls of
a wooden-framed caravan can cause wood
rot (see page 24). Depending on the extent of
the rot, you could end up with a hefty repair
bill on top of the original purchase price.
