RV FEATURE The Four Hands in a Tin Can crew's broken caravan sink. BROKEN SINKS Why do they make deodorant bottles in glass? Please stick to the tin or plastic bottles, as they do much less damage when they fall from a cupboard onto the porcelain sink in the bathroom. You guess it, we shattered the van sink while in Tasmania, which involved an entire day of driving to the nearest big town and searching for a new sink, the required fittings and a bit of plumbing work to get it fixed. Nothing in caravans is conventional! There are others who have had accidents, from kids breaking bones that require surgery or back braces, to the single mum who had to be flown home with her child, her caravan and vehicle towed to her home state, due to a serious break and surgery. ALL DISASTERS There are the caravan roll overs, the pet that passes away and other life-altering moments that happen to people on the road. While we haven’t had any major disasters on the road, we have met and kept in contact with a few who have. We have met families who have had no end of car troubles and who had to buy a new car to continue their journeys. We have met people who have had engines blow up, turbos go, dirty fuel destroy their cars, and without insurance and some money in the bank, they would have been in a pickle. 34 \ The thing we remind ourselves is that we are living a life many want to live, and no matter how large the problem seems, it would still probably present itself in some way in a house.
