RV FEATURE DISTRACTIONS We are often distracted in our travels thanks to the stories of other travellers. We might have a plan to head in one direction, but we will zig-zag to another. This also means scrambling to change plans and to find new campsites. One particularly sunny day, we heard about the Jimna Fire Tower in the Jimna State Forest, Qld. It was great trip in on a bitumen road. We saw the fire tower but found out we were not allowed to climb it as it had been decommissioned. So we headed into the little town of Jimna to find out more about the tower and the area. We were greeted warmly by the information centre volunteer, who also ran a café onsite. Lucky for us, he had cooked a campfire stew the day before and treated us to a delicious meal. We discussed where we were travelling and he told us not to backtrack but to continue as there was only about 10km of dirt track ahead of the 60-odd kilometres we had to drive back to the main road. Hmm. Now, I am not sure if his idea of 10km was a bit off, but it was closer to 50km of dirt The Jimna Fire Tower / 31
