For a good practice in accordance with project “Green skills for social agriculture”, ERASMUS+, key activity 2 “Strategic school partnerships” – 09.05.2018г.

Project “Green skills for social agriculture” included schools from six different countries – Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Romania, Italy, and Hungary. For two years, a team of teachers and students worked in various activities, exchanged work visits and fulfilled tasks on the project by creating different products related to foodstuffs such as orange, grapes, honey, olive, apple, and the healing resin mastic.

The closing meeting for the project took place in the town of Sandanski, Bulgaria, between 07.05. and 12.05. 2018, and was hosted by Professional High school of Agriculture, Sandanski. The meeting concluded with a food festival called “I am eating a masterpiece”.

On 09.05.2018, all participants had the chance to practice different skills in several workshops. Groups from Greece, Spain, Romania, Italy, and Hungary each spent an hour in Bulgarian language classes, where they acquired basic knowledge and reading skills in Bulgarian. In order to prepare the audience emotionally and underline relation with the project objectives, a short presentation on vineyards in the region of Sandanski and famous wine making companies that produce and export wine abroad was given. Each slide included a slogan about grapes and wine, written in both English and Bulgarian. Each group started their task by reading the slogan and explaining the meaning. The main objective of the language workshop was to close the task with a reading of the poem “Gorchivo vino” /Evtim Evtimov/ in Bulgarian. The text of the poem was typed beforehand and pronunciation specifics were explained. A video of a popular song based on the poem was played. The song is called “Gorchivo vino” and is performed by notorious Bulgarian singer Veselin Marinov. Reading a line of the poem lyrics was not a challenge for the guests. It seemed that each group included students that were able to understand and read Cyrillic letters. Teachers from the groups also participated in the language exercise. We were excited to videotape the event, being well aware of the difficulty and complexity of our native Bulgarian language. Some students were very interested and tried to spell and write their names with Cyrillic letters, which brought additional fun and added to the joyful experience. This way, in a good mood and without any bored faces, the purpose of the lesson was achieved – all the participants gained basic knowledge in Bulgarian by reading a text directly associated with the foodstuff of our group – grapes.

At the end of the workshop lesson, everyone received the lyrics of “Gorchivo vino” in Bulgarian to keep not only as a present, but also as a valuable memory of the improvised emotional meeting with our euphonical, beautiful, and rich mother tongue.
