Cristiano Ronaldo wins the third "Ballon D'Or"
Cristiano Ronaldo received his third "Ballon D'Or" from FIFA, an award that
distinguishes the best football player in the world. The Portuguese was one of the
nominees for the award along with Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer. The ceremony
was held in Zurique, Switzerland.
Ronaldo established yet another goal: "I hope to catch Messi next season!”. Lionel
Messi has already won four "Ballons D'or".
The Real Madrid player thanked his family, the Portuguese national team and the
Portuguese people.
Cristiano Ronaldo thanked everyone that voted for him, his coach Carlo Ancelotti,
his Real Madrid teammates, the president Florentino Perez and all Real Madrid
supporters for an unforgettable year.
He also said that he had never thought he would win this award three times but he
hopes that it doesn’t end there. He wants to be part of football’s history as "the
best".
This achievement is very valuable for Portuguese people, making them very proud
of this player, who is a pure example of hard work.
Ronaldo had already won the same trophy in 2008 and 2013. He won this time
with 37, 66% of the votes.
