Paris: Young man saves 6 people from attack
On Friday, 9th January 2015, a gunman entered a Jewish grocery store, in Paris,
threatening clients and customers. The incident
resulted in the death of 4 hostages, but the
worst was avoided thanks to a young employee
of the grocery by hiding a group of people in the
refrigerator cabinet, thus keeping them save.
Quoted by the French press, the young man,
Lassana Bathily, explained that he had turned
off the freezer and the light and hidden the customers there, asking them to remain
calm.
The police ended up intervening via shootout, which resulted in the death of the
attacker, Amedy Coulibaly. There were also four other fatalities, four Jewish people
(3 customers and an employee of the store) that were fatally hit by the attacker. They
will be buried this weak in Israel. Initially, the police thought Lassana was also
involved in the attack.
This young man’s courageous act has already conquered social networks, with
thousands of people sharing Lassana's story. He is already considered a national hero
in France.
