C elebrate the U niversal H appy B irthday of S helter P ets ! t s u G DO If you've ever adopted a rescue dog or two, you're aware that getting background information on your new family member is tough, including their particular breed or how old they are. There are DNA kits that can help determine lineage, and vets can ballpark a pet's age from their physical condition. But many people would like to know when their pet's actual birthday is, and most often, that information is unob- tainable. Back in 2008, the North Shore Animal League America, a no-kill rescue and adoption organiza- tion, decided to remedy that issue, declaring August 1st of every year as DOGust, the universal birthday for shelter dogs. Many rescues and shelters use the DOGust celebration, not only to commemorate their residents' birthdays, but to also raise awareness of the plight of so many dogs waiting to find their forever homes. Here's how you can join in to make a difference: β€’ Throw a Birthday Party for your Rescue Dog: Ask your guests to bring an item to donate to your local shelter or rescue (or the organization from which you adopted your own rescue dog). Provide a wishlist of particular needs those shelters have so you can fulfill their needs. β€’ Share Your Happy Tale on Social Media Write a short story and snap some photos of your rescue dog enjoying his or her new life. People love a happy ending, and employees and volunteers at shelters and rescues could use the positive reinforce- ment as incentive to keep going, in what is ½™Ρ•Έ„‘₯™™₯Υ±Π…Ή½Ω•Ιέ‘•±΅₯ΉœΑΙ½™•ΝΝ₯½ΈΈΑ…Ι…Ι…Α ½Θ)ΡέΌ…‰½ΥЁ‘½άε½Υȁ‘½œ‘…́‰•½΅”Α…ΙЁ½˜ε½Υȁ™…΅₯±δέ½Υ±΅•…ΈΡ‘”έ½Ι±ΡΌΡ‘”™½±Με½Τ…‘½ΑΡ•)‘₯΄½Θ‘•Θ™Ι½΄Έ₯Ω”Ρ‘•΄½ΉΝ•ΉΠΡΌΝ‘…Ι”ε½ΥȁΝΡ½Ι䁽ΈΡ‘•₯ȁݕ‰Ν₯Ρ”½Θ™…•‰½½¬°…ΉΑ½ΝЁ₯ЁѼε½ΥΙΜ)ΡΌΑΙ½Ω₯‘”Ν½΅”Ι•…ЁΑΥ‰±₯₯Ρ䀴ε½Τ΅…䁕Ή½ΥΙ…”½Ρ‘•ΊѼ…‘½ΑΠ°…́ݕ±°„+Šˆ₯Ω”ε½ΥȁI•ΝΥ”½œ„AΥΙΑ½Ν”€΄M₯ΈΥΐ™½ΘQ‘•Ι…Α䁽ȁ₯±₯Ρδ ±…ΝΝ•Μ)Q‘₯́₯́„έ₯Έ½έ₯Έ™½Θ‰½Ρ ½˜ε½Τ„•ΡΡ₯Ήœε½Υȁ‘½œΡ‘•Ι…Α䁍•ΙΡ₯™₯•½ΘΡΙ…₯Ή₯Ήœ‘₯΄₯Έ…₯±₯Ρ䁑…́½ΥΉΠ΄)±•Ν́‰•Ή•™₯ΡΜ€΄Ή½ΠΡ‘”±•…ΝЁ½˜έ‘₯ ₯́•ΡΡ₯ΉœΡΌΝΑ•ΉΝ½΅”½Ή”½Έ½Ή”Ρ₯΅”έ₯Ρ ε½ΥȁΉ•ά™½Ι•Ω•Θ)™Ι₯•ΉΈ™Ρ•Θ‰•₯Ήœ½½Α•Υΐ₯Έ„Ν‘•±Ρ•Θ°…₯±₯Ρδ)½ΥΊ͕½Υ±‰”©ΥΝЁё”ΥΙ”™½Θ„‘½œΡ‘… ЁݽΉ‘•Ι™Υ°Α•Ρ́͑•±Ρ•Θ‘½Μ΅…”ΈQΌ™₯Ή)½ΥЁ₯˜…₯±₯Ρδ₯́ͽ΅•Ρ‘₯Ήœε½Τ±₯”ΡΌΑΥΙΝΥ”™½Θε½Τ)…Ήε½Υȁ‘½œ°‘•¬½ΥЁё₯́‘•±Α™Υ°έ•‰Ν₯Ρ”€΄έέάΈ)…™™½Ι‘…‰±•…₯±₯Ρ乍½΄Έ½Θ΅½Ι”₯Ή™Ό…‰½ΥЁ•ΙΡ₯™ε₯Ήœ)ε½Υȁ‘½œ™½ΘΡ‘•Ι…Αδέ½Ι¬°Α±•…Ν”±½œ½ΈΡΌέέάΉ…ŒΈ)½Ιœ½‘½œ΅½έΉ•ΙΜ½ΡΙ…₯Ή₯Ήœ½…Œ΅Ρ‘•Ι…Αδ΅‘½œ΅ΑΙ½Ι…΄Ό(Δΐ)A…έΝ₯Ρ₯Ω•±δA•ΡΜ€΄΄՝ΥΝ
