SCHOOL NEWS TABS FOR A CAUSE - KINDERGARTENS SAVE CAN TABS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL FBLA The Middle School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) have been collecting can tabs for the past three years to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is an independent nonprof- it organization that helps keep families together. It is a “home-away-from-home” to children with a serious illness or injury and their families. There is little or no cost to the families for them stay close to their hospital- ized child. It allows the family to concentrate on the health of their child, and not on where they can afford to stay. The organization relies on donations and volunteers to make this possible. The 8th grade Middle School FBLA students will be taking their collection to the Ronald McDonald House in Danville on Tuesday, May 30th. While there, they will be doing some community service, by volunteering their time to help clean the facility. The Middle School FBLA would like to extend a big shout out to Mrs. Reeder’s kindergarten class at JSE for working hard and saving their can tabs for the cause. Recently the 8th grade members went to visit Mrs. Reeder’s class so they could hand over their can tabs. The kinder- garteners were very excited to show how many tabs they collected all year. A special thank you to the kindergarteners for help- ing this great cause! JSHS STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: GABRIELLE MOORE Gabrielle Moore is this month's Jersey Shore Area High School Student-Athlete of the Month. Moore, a June graduate of JSAHS, was an accomplished swimmer during her time as a Lady Bulldog. For three years, she was a member of the swimming program, and she also ascended to team captaincy during her career. After winning the team's Freshman of the Year award, she later went on to qualify for the state meet on two different occasions. Beyond the swim team, Gabrielle stayed around the water, volunteering as a lifeguard and as a swim instructor. Outside the pool, she was a four-year participant in both FBLA and Homecoming Committee. She recorded top six regional finishes in FBLA twice and most notably, earned a first place FBLA achievement, as well. Her other extracurricular activities included Pep Club, Prom Committee, National Honor Society, and National English Honor Society. Gabrielle's upcoming plans are to attend Penn College.
